President.-
Christina M. Guillén-Cook, MBA, RN is a Marketing, Communication, and Business Consultant. She is a native Californian who relocated to the South Puget Sound area in August, 2000. Before acquiring her Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, she worked as a registered nurse for 18 years. Since her move to the area, she has been active in a number of community organizations. Currently, Ms. Guillén-Cook is a board member of Community Health Care and the Puget Sound Educational Service District and R. Merle Palmer Minority Scholarship Foundation. She is also a member of Latino Educational Alliance (LEA), and a member of the American Leadership Forum Class XI.
President
Elect .- Melody Rodriguez is the Director of Youth and
Family Programs at Centro Latino, a non profit social services
agency providing Latinos in Pierce County with opportunities
to improve their lives through education and family services.
Ms. Rodriguez is a native of Tacoma and has worked with
the Latino community since 1993. She has a B.A. in
Sociology from Central Washington University. Ms.
Rodriguez is a member of the Latino Education Alliance (LEA),
Conexion Latina, and a member of the distribution committee
of The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation.
Treasurer.-
Roberto Lopez is a 1998 graduate of the University of Oregon
and a Desert Storm veteran. He currently works as the Youth
Education Coordinator at Centro Latino. In addition to Conexion
Latina, he is involved with the Latino Education Alliance
and the Latino Vote Project.
Secretary.-
Cenobio Macías, Currently co-chair of the Latino
Education Alliance (LEA); serves on the state Bias &
Fairness committee that reviews the items for WASL; Washington
Education Association (WEA) clock hour committee; auditor
for the Washington School Improvement Program; exhibit chair
for the Washington State Association for Multicultural Education
(WSAME); assessor for Early Childhood Education (ECAP) and
Head Start in the Tacoma School District.
Parliamentarian.-
David Artis a member of Conexion Latina and board member
of Centro Latino. He has lived in Pierce County for 40 years.
Graduate of Pacific Lutheran University. Founding member
of his community organization (Midland Residents Association).
His focus is the advancement of Latinos within the greater
community in education and political arena.
